CRIXUS

Crixus' Health Records

Hips - 8:8

Elbows - 1:0

Crixus was originally sourced as an outcross to our Lykos breeding program by his original owner.

Crixus has very wolfy looks, rich colour, dark facial masking, light eyes and tall, lanky and wolfy body type. Crixus has a very happy temperament, very confident and loves people and other dogs.

Although his hip score was found to be a bit over our standards in relation to his hips, these scores are acceptable by many other breeding organisations world-wide. It is classified as:

FCI:  B-1

OFA: Fair

Nonetheless, the resulting puppies from his unplanned litter with Neva (Lykosia Asena Dawn) ended up being fine examples of the Lykos breed, all with passing hip scores less than 10 in total and clear elbows. Puppies were sold under contract, with genetic guarantees (including hips and elbows). Crixus only sired the one litter with Neva in our breeding program and was then given away to a lovely pet home.

Background story: We are always transparent about our breeding practices! Neva was bred to one of our White Shepherd studs Caspian. After the mating had finished with Caspian and she would not accept another mating, and vulval swelling appeared back to normal, it appeared Neva seemed to have finished her heat cycle. It appeared nature had other ideas when Crixus came to us about a week or so after. We are more than open about this accidental litter with Crixus as he was not yet able to be health tested due to his young age. DNA parentage testing confirmed Crixus was the sire and not Caspian. When Crixus was old enough to be health tested, this was immediately completed. Accidental litters can and do happen despite breeder's best efforts. We have always been 100% honest about this, while many other breeders will not. In 25 years of breeding, we have only ever had a 3 unplanned litters/accidental matings, but dogs are always health tested, which can be seen below.

Crixus unfortunately passed away in 2023 due to an obstruction after eating something he shouldn't have. Our love and thoughts go out to his family.
